The Recreation Department is committed to providing the
citizens of Rohnert Park a variety of recreational opportunities that
are safe, enjoyable, and promote good health. To this end, special
programs are offered to make these goals more attainable for all
families and individuals -- from resident discounts, to scholarships
for activities and classes, to assistance with basic necessities.
This section also lists programs, such as the Roberts
Lake Brick Memorial, which are unique opportunities for citizen
participation.

The City of Rohnert Park offers discounts for various
programs to residents who purchase the Resident Discount Card. By
agreement, users of the card are entitled to reduced fees at Mountain
Shadows Golf Courses (not good for tournament play). Discounts are also
available at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center ($2 off Spreckels
productions only) and the Sports and Fitness Center ($1 off open gym

The Rohnert Park Recreation Department solicits
financial donations that are used to help Rohnert Park families or
individuals who can demonstrate financial hardship and wish to
participate in our programs. Any person or organization wishing to make
a tax deductible donation to this program can contact the Recreation
Department at 588-3456.
There is also a place on the registration form that you may donate $1.00 or more to this fund.

On the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Rohnert Park Community Center, 5401 Snyder Lane, from 10:30-noon p.m., Federal surplus food is given away. To be eligible to receive the food stuffs, you must meet Federal income guidelines. To find out if you are eligible, call the Redwood Empire Food Bank at 523-7900, then just come by the above location. The program at the Community Center is for Rohnert Park and Cotati residents only. If you live elsewhere, call the Redwood Empire Food Bank number to find out the giveaway location for your community.

General Information
The City of Rohnert Park has established an area at
Roberts Lake to memorialize loved ones who have passed away. The brick
area consists of 1,450 bricks in an area which is approximately 20 feet
by 20 feet with the following centerpiece: "City of Rohnert Park,
Roberts Lake Memorial, Dedicated in fond memory of all who have gone
before, that they did not pass this way unnoticed."
Procedure for Acquiring An Engraved Brick:
Individuals interested in memorializing a deceased resident or relative of a Rohnert Park resident can use the form provided.
Complete the form by filling in the necessary information.
Pay the $50 cost for the brick, plus any additional
fees depending on the number of lines you chose. Mail the completed
form and your check to:

Make checks payable to the City of Rohnert Park.
Bricks will be ordered when we have received orders for
5 or more bricks. Engraved bricks will be returned approximately 6-8
weeks from the time the company receives the order. Bricks should be
placed in the memorial within two to three months of ordering, weather
permitting. Notification will be sent when the brick has been placed in
the memorial.
Orders are not limited to only memorializing one loved one.
The City of Rohnert Park reserves the right to deny any requests that deem to be inappropriate for the brick memorial. |
