Youth and Family Services, a division of the Department
of Public Safety, has been serving the Rohnert Park community since
1976. The primary clients are juveniles cited to YFS instead of the
traditional juvenile justice system.
The primary function of YFS is Diversion Counseling. A
diversion counselor adjudicates all juvenile criminal cases that are
referred from the Department of Public Safety. The majority of cases
are for first time offenders. This program is an alternative to the
juvenile justice system. It seeks to intervene in the youth's life
before things get out of hand. |
