Business Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of business, in cooperation with law enforcement, to reduce crime in and around their businesses. It involves
- Business owners, managers and associates getting to know each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance.
- Business
owners, managers and associates being trained to recognize and report
suspicious activities in and around their businesses.
Why Business Watch? - Over 40 million crimes are committed every year and the number is still growing.
- A
law enforcement officer can not be at every business, or shopping
center, every minute, of everyday. Business involvement is essential to
combat crime in your business area.
- By cooperating with each
other and law enforcement, business people can help fight crime in
their community the most effective way - before it begins.
How does a business get involved? FIRST - Contact The Department and tell them you are interested in starting or joining a Business Watch group. ALSO
- Use your eyes and ears, and then your telephone. If you spot
something suspicious, call local law enforcement immediately.
