Fleet Services
Fleet Services is an essential division of Public
Works. City mechanics handle the challenging demands of a diverse fleet
and equipment inventory. Fleet maintenance plays a critical role in
ensuring the mechanical integrity of Public Safety rescue and law
enforcement vehicles as well as Public Works vehicles and equipment,
and other City vehicles. Our fleet and equipment mechanics are
qualified professionals who are trained in state of the art diagnostic
repair. They maintain a variety of complex vehicles, equipment, and
communications devices.
Current assets consist of 170 rolling vehicles including:

The Fleet Services Division of Public Works also
maintains small equipment that is used throughout the City. Mowers,
chainsaws, string-line trimmers, pumps, generators, and various other
equipment is maintained in the City shop. A Maintenance Helper
maintains the yard and shop facilities.
Vehicle diagnostic work is done using a 450 SUN engine
analyzer (the first in northern California). Scheduled maintenance and
fleet inventory is managed with Shop Key software program. In keeping
with Rohnert Park's dedication to recycling, Fleet Services recycling
includes tires, oil, anti-freeze and batteries.
All capital purchases are handled through the City Purchasing Division. The City uses local vendors when ever possible.
