Receive up to $150 for the purchase of a new high-efficiency toilet. These HETs flush with 1.28 gallons of water (or less). New toilets must replace toilets that flush 3.5 gallons or more (Pre-1992). Water Saving Fixtures

Pick up water saving information and a FREE showerhead, bathroom aerator, kitchen aerator and hose nozzle at City Hall or the City Finance Annex.

Leak Detection

If you feel that there may be a water leak in your home please call (707) 585-6700 and a City representative may be able to come to your house and check for leaks.

Checking for Leaks in Toilets: Put some food dye in the tank of the toilet and then leave for 15 minutes. When you return, look into your toilet bowl to see if there is any of the dye color in the water. If there is color, or if you can hear or see water running in your bowl, it's time for a new flapper! Turn the water off using the valve near the toilet and take the rubber flapper out of the tank of the toilet. Bring the old flapper to the hardware store to make sure that you get the correct flapper.

Water Wise Gardening

• Try a drip system for shrubs and trees without groundcover beneath them or for groundcovers that spread without surface rooting.
• Install a rain shut-off device on your irrigation controller.
• Turn your irrigation controller off in the winter
• Water at night or early in the morning to reduce evaporation
• To prevent run off program your irrigation controller to use multiple start cycles.
