DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Administrative Analyst is an entry-level position in the Analyst series. Incumbents in this class perform more routine administrative analysis and research on new and current program activities while learning City policies and procedures and gaining specialized knowledge related to area of assignment. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. Incumbents may provide supervision to clerical or technical personnel. The Administrative Analyst is distinguished from the Management Analyst in that the latter is the lead professional level within the series, carrying the full responsibility for developing and interpreting citywide policies and procedures. Where the Administrative Analyst is likely to be assigned to projects within a relatively narrow subject area, the Management Analyst is likely to be assigned projects across a greater breadth of subject material and responsibility.
