Active Projects
Location: 7471 Bernice Avenue
Description: Arson occurred at the concession building at Benicia Park in July, 2024. The Project consists of repairing the interior of the damaged concession building, including electrical, walls, countertop and door. The project also consists of removing and replacing the existing roof that was damaged by a tree and mounting a new scoreboard donated by Rohnert Park Cal Ripken.

Location: 130 Avram Avenue
Description: This project replaces 23 heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, the flat roof area and the indoor lighting control system, including replacement of all interior light fixtures with "smart" fixtures that individually have integral functionality to dim, use motion control to turn on or off, and be on programmed schedule.

Location: "Dowdell Avenue Extension" new road to be constructed between Golf Course Drive West and Business Park Drive
Description: This project is to provide a new emergency vehicle access road to serve the Holiday Inn Express development proposed on Business Park Drive. Work includes a water line connection from Business Park Drive to Golf Course Drive and installation and connection of a storm drain at Golf Course Drive West. This is Phase 1 of Dowdell Avenue Extension Project, Phase 2 will eventually provide a roadway for two-way traffic between Business Park Drive and Golf Course Drive West.

Location: Rohnert Park Cotati Regional Library located at 6250 Lynne Conde Way
Description: The work consists of replacement of the interior lighting system or light fixtures, fire detection and alarm system, and components of the central cooling systems, including a rooftop HVAC unit. These three components were identified in both the City's Building Condition Assessment and the Sonoma County Library's Facilities Condition Assessment that are in need of replacement. This project is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library.
Project Phase: Design in progress. Construction estimated to begin early 2026 and tentatively complete Spring 2027.

Location: Eagle Park, 1075 Emily Avenue, and Magnolia Park, 1401 Middlebrook Way
Description: This Project includes replacing the aging electrical equipment at the City's Parks. Priority projects were identified by an electrical assessment conducted in 2021.
Project Phase: Lead time on material is anticipated at 40-42 weeks. Construction estimated to begin November 2026 - January 2027, dependent on material status.

Location: Magnolia Park, Fire Station 2, Pump Station, Public Safety Main and Sonoma Mountain Radio Tower
Description: This project is the replacement of the Public Safety radio system, including replacing five Dispatch radio consoles. The current consoles have reached the end of their useful life and are no longer supported. The radio antennas are being replaced with microwave dishes located on poles at Magnolia Park, Public Safety Main, Pump Station and Fire Station 2. A new microwave dish is proposed to be placed on the radio tower at Sonoma Mountain.
Project Phase: Construction to completed December 2025.

Description: This project is the construction of a new administration building and fenced parking lot to centralize and house all Public Works Utilities operations staff. The proposed new building will be an approximately 3,290 square-foot wood framed constructed building with baton exterior siding and a standing seam metal roof. The building interior will primarily consist of office spaces, including two large open offices with workstations, five private offices, a separate conference room that is centrally located within the building, and two single user restrooms, including one new exterior access and a shower. Supporting spaces include a small kitchenette, storage room, and utility spaces.
Project Phase: Permitting. Construction anticipated February 2026 - December 2026.

Description: In 2022, a solar energy feasibility study was conducted to reduce and control utility costs for public sector agencies. The feasibility study identified three (3) sites that would produce significant cost savings and power generation over a 20-year term. The project includes installing solar canopies at the parking lots of City Center, Spreckels Performing Arts Center, and Callinan Sports and Fitness Center.

- What type of construction project is this?
- We are installing solar photovoltaic canopies in the parking lot to promote clean energy initiatives.
- How long is it expected to take?
- We will be breaking ground starting March 2026, and it is expected to be complete in July 2026.
- How long will the fencing be up?
- The fencing will be up while construction activities are ongoing from March 2026 until July 2026, but will be periodically scaled back as each canopy is completed. The City and its construction partner are committed to minimizing impacts to community members as much as possible.
- How much power are the solar canopies expected to produce?
- The solar canopies are expected to produce more than 500,000kW hours of power annually, offsetting the City's usage at this site by as much as 99%.
- Will trees be removed? If so, will trees be replanted?
- Yes, trees will be removed to allow installation of the solar canopies. New trees will be replanted as part of our ongoing Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP).
Location: Snyder Lane between Lawrence Jones Parkway and north of Keiser Avenue (approximately 340 feet north of Keiser Avenue centerline)
Description: The City of Rohnert Park is undertaking the Keiser Avenue Reconstruction Project - Phase 3 to improve infrastructure and traffic safety. The project includes:
- Removal and replacement of old water main
- Storm drain improvements
- Bioretention areas and plantings
- Street lights
- New Pedestrian access ramps and sidewalk
- Asphalt paving
- New traffic signal installation and modifications
- Widening of Snyder Lane to two lanes in each direction between just north of Keiser Avenue and Circulo Grande

Location: Extension of Crane Creek Trail from Copeland Creek Trail on the west end of Sonoma State University to Sonoma County Crane Creek Regional Park
Description: Construction of approximately 7,500 feet of new trail, new pedestrian traffic signal at Laurel Drive and Petaluma Hill Road, new 90-foot span steel pedestrian bridge, two new 14-foot span metal bridges, drainage improvements, minor structures for earth retainment and drainage, concrete abutments, concrete footings, trail signage, and new fencing. The Traffic Signal portion consists of the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Petaluma Hill Road and Laurel Drive for pedestrian crossing.
Project Phase: Trail Construction to be completed June 2026 - August 2026. Traffic Signal Improvements to be completed May 2026.

Description: Water meter technology upgrades via advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to best monitor water consumption and leaks. The project includes replacement of a large percentage of older water meters throughout the City. Customers will be able to monitor water consumption online when the project is complete.

Description: This Project will include the design to seismically retrofit seven water tanks and six water well sites within the City, including the design for connectivity to backup generators and all required electrical and control equipment infrastructure upgrades.

Location: 201 J. Rogers Lane and intersection of Wilfred Avenue and Arlington Avenue
Description: Improvements to Pump Station Number 2 include a new epoxy coating system within the wet well, replacement of deteriorated pipe supports, clamps and hardware, and upgrades to the existing ventilation and electrical system within the wet well, dry well and control room. Improvements to 30-inch sewer force main located at Wilfred Avenue and Arlington Avenue include replacement of approximately 30 feet of existing ductile iron pipe with plastic pipe (HDPE), air vacuum assembly, and fittings.
Project Phase: Construction begins Summer 2026.

Completed Projects
Location: A&B Neighborhood Sections
Description: The work includes pavement rehabilitation on various streets in the A&B neighborhood sections of the City, including crack sealing, weed/vegetation abatement, dig-out repairs, slurry sealing, traffic striping and pavement markings.
For Residents:
- Expect Delays from 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Trash Day will remain the same day
- A full street closure is only intended to impact residents for one day

Location: Southwest Boulevard from Commerce Boulevard to Adrian Drive
Description: The Southwest Boulevard Project is a transformative project along Southwest Boulevard between the roundabout at Commerce Boulevard and just east of Adrian Drive, consisting of the following components: a protected bike lane on the north side of Southwest Boulevard: reduction of vehicle lanes to two travel lanes (one in each direction), separated by a center median with turn pockets; a new sidewalk on the south side of Southwest Boulevard to accommodate multi-directional bicyclists and pedestrians; installation of a sidewalk on the north side of Southwest Boulevard between Adrian Drive and No Name Street; bioretention areas for storm water treatment and capture; repair and beautification of the soundwall; and installation of new street lighting.
Project Phase: Completed October 2025.
