[ARCHIVED] Missing Person at Risk Located Deceased

On January 16, 2026, detectives with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) were notified by CAL FIRE LNU that a Tesla vehicle part had been located near Schoolhouse Beach in Bodega Bay.

RPDPS detectives requested Sonoma County Sherriff’s Office Helicopter H-1 to search the surrounding area. During the aerial search, a blue Tesla vehicle matching the description of Kale Gonick-Hallows’ Tesla was located submerged in the water.

RPDPS, in coordination with CAL FIRE, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter (H-1), and California State Parks Lifeguards, responded to the scene. A deceased individual was located in the driver’s seat of the submerged vehicle.

Through the identification process, the individual was confirmed to be Kale Gonick-Hallows.

At this time, there is no indication of foul play. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of Kale Gonick-Hallows during this difficult time
