RP Moves Forward with Downtown Plans

At the special meeting on Tues, City Council supported the following in regards to the new downtown development:

  • early implementation timing for construction of the downtown
  • a City cost approach balancing operating and debt service costs with anticipated revenues
  • making 15% of the downtown housing units affordable to our workforce defined as families earning 80% of area median income or less, including similar housing densities as already approved,
  • and providing a significant amount of high quality amenities as already approved

Next steps: compliance with Surplus Lands Act.
