As an Elections Official, the City Clerk administers federal, state and local procedures through which local government representatives are elected. The City Clerk assists candidates in meeting their campaign responsibilities before, during and after an election.

The Argument filing period closes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019. (EC §9286)

The Rebuttal filing period closes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019. (EC §9285)

County Voter Information Guides in the Mail Soon –  County Voter Information Guides will be mailed to voters beginning September 26, 2019.


Registration Deadline:
October 21, 2019 is the Last day for any qualified elector to register or re-register to vote in the upcoming election. A person who has moved, changed his or her name or who wishes to change political party affiliation must re-register by this date. Visit our Voter Resources for more information.

Voting System Replacement Underway
In 2017, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters replaced the outdated voting system with a newer paper ballot system that is more effective, secure, and responsive to voter needs. The Registrar of Voters Office began using the new system in March of 2019.
