The Building Division accepts building permit applications electronically for contractors and property owners. 

To start an initial or to submit a re-submittal of a building permit application please email [email protected], as this is the best way to contact staff and a member of our staff will reach out as quickly as possible.   Please note that applications are reviewed in the order received and we appreciate your patience.

The Building Division can also establish online accounts within our permit system for contractors and design professionals.  To obtain an online account or to reset your password please email [email protected]

Building Inspections can be scheduled through the City's Online Inspection Request Portal, by leaving a voicemail request at 707-585-6719, or by e-mailing your inspection request to [email protected].

*** EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY BUILDING INSPECTIONS ARE OFFERED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.  INSPECTION REQUESTS MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN 3pm PRIOR TO THE INSPECTION REQUEST DATE.

PLEASE NOTE, IF THE REQUEST IS NOT CANCELLED PRIOR TO 8:15am ON THE DAY OF THE SCHEDULED INSPECTION, THE INSPECTION WILL BE COUNTED AS A VISIT AND YOU MAY BE  REQUIRED TO PAY A RE-INSPECTION FEE.  PERMIT CARDS AND APPROVED PLANS ARE TO BE PRINTED AND AVAILABLE ON-SITE WHEN OUR INSPECTOR ARRIVES.

MORNING INSPECTIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8am–12pm AND AFTERNOON INSPECTIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED 1pm – 3pm.  OUR TEAM WILL DO THEIR BEST TO HONOR YOUR INSPECTION REQUEST AND THEREFORE,  WE WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE A 2-HOUR WINDOW AND CANNOT GUARANTEE A SPECIFIC TIME. 

INSPECTION SCHEDULES WILL BE DEEMED FINAL AND AVAILABLE AFTER 8:15am ON THE DAY OF THE SCHEDULED INSPECTION IF YOU ARE REVIEWING YOUR INSPECTION VIA THE E-TRAKIT PORTAL, KEEP IN MIND THAT ANY TIME LISTED AS AM OR PM IS NOT SPECIFIC TO THE TIME SELECTED,.***

The Building Division is charged with enforcement of Title 24: California Building Standards Codes which regulate the construction of all buildings and structures on private property, and all City owned buildings on city-owned property. The Building Division does not have jurisdictional authority for mobile home parks or public schools, which are regulated by the state of California. The Building Division also maintains publicly accessible permit records and copies of approved plans, as required by state law.
