As an Elections Official, the City Clerk administers federal, state and local procedures through which local government representatives are elected. The City Clerk assists candidates in meeting their campaign responsibilities before, during and after an election.

Background Information
Vice Mayor Linares was elected to the Council on November 3, 2020 from Council District 1. On April 18, 2022, Vice Mayor Linares submitted a letter to Mayor Elward, City Manager Jenkins and City Clerk Lopez Cuevas announcing his intention to resign from the City Council, effective upon appointment of his successor, but no later than May 25, 2022. At their regular meeting on April 26, 2022, the City Council directed staff to begin the process to fill the seat by appointment using an application and review period. The application period opened on April 27, 2022 and will close May 13, 2022 at 4 p.m. The applications will be distributed to the City Council and posted on the website for review. The City Council will appoint an applicant to fill the vacancy at its regular meeting scheduled on May 24, 2022.

Did you know that the City of Rohnert Park district lines were adjusted to reflect the current census data?  On March 8, 2022, the City of Rohnert Park adopted Resolution No. 2022-032 to establish new electoral district boundaries. Learn more about the resolution and selected map by clicking here

City Election Date
Voters in District 2 and 5 to elect their Councilmembers at the General Municipal Election of November 8, 2022 and you could be the one to represent them! If you are interested in running for City Council please click here for eligibility and more information. Remember, the nomination period for candidates to obtain the nomination papers opens at 8:00 am on July 18, 2022 and closes at 5:00 pm on August 12, 2022.
